Vintage Oriental Lacquered Storage or Sewing Box Japan + 13 Needle Booklets Cute

Description

This is a beautiful old round painted box marked "MADE IN JAPAN" on the bottom. It is decorate on the sides as well as the top. It contains an old "Made In U.S.A."  60" tape measure, assorted sewing supplies and 13 Needle  booklets. 8 of the booklets are advertising from "Life of Georgia" (not all are pictured) and the containers were made in Japan. Three of them are in original paper wrappers. The ACME Super Market, A & P Food Store and AAA Auto Association booklets were made in West Germany. The oblong A & P container is not marked, but the needle threader in it is marked "JAPAN". The cutest thing is this little hand made girl figure of brightly colored felt wearing a big bonnet. Her skirt is hand embroidered. Her many crinolines include 7 LAYERS of petticoats with pins and needles of assorted sizes. She's about 5 1/4" tall  and I think her skirt and hat have tatted trim, although it may be finely crocheted. She is definitely hand made and is a work of art. Not all needle booklets are complete, but it is easy to fill them up with missing needles. I am not certain what the sewing box is made of. It's some kind of hard composition material but is not metal. There is wear to the box around the edges and a few places on the floral design, so it is only in fair  condition.
