Czech Bohemian Fancy Brass Woven Mesh Rope Glass & Brass Beads & Enamel Necklace, Pendant
The chain length is 26 ½” (inches), made of woven brass mesh rope ¼” wide.
The clasp is the original barrel screw type, marked “Czechoslov” on the ring of the clasp.
The pendant is 1 ¼” x 1 ¾” (including the bail).
The black center “stone” appears somewhat Art Deco in style, & overall the piece hints at an Egyptian / Celtic motif that was popular during the Nouveau / Deco transition era (c.teens-1920's).
That & the small inset “beads” appear to be celluloid, not glass.
However, the beads are black glass, slightly lustered, in round & disc shapes, set with floral embossed tubes & brass beads – all surfaces being highly decorated, even the openwork folded-over panel on the back of the pendant.
There are black enamel half-moons which decorate the pendant, & all the brass findings are embossed with fancy interlocking circles & flowers.
The entire necklace is quite light weight, although highly unique, complex, but elegant in appearance.
Its condition is unflawed & original!
Quite different from any we have ever seen!
