Alex Grammas (1926-2019) was a right-handed hitting infielder, coach, and manager, and played in the majors for 10 seasons for the Cardinals (1954-1956 & 1959-1962), Reds (1956-1958), and Cubs (1962-1963), hitting .247 in 913 games, with 12 HRs, and 163 RBIs. Primarily a shortstop, Grammas hit .269 in 131 games in 1959, with 3 HRs, and 30 RBIs. After his playing days, he coached for the Cubs (1964), Pirates (1965-1969-was interim manager in 1969 with a 4-1 record), coached the Reds (1970-1975 & 1978), Braves (1979), Tigers (1980-1981), and managed the Brewers (1976-1977-record 133-190).
